  • Overview

    The Insurance Specialist will support all FirstKey Homes insurance programs with underwriting, coverage placement, claims administration and loss analysis. This role will interface with business partners across the organization as well as external entities such as insurance carriers and individuals effected by claims to convey important updates and follow-up on claims. The Insurance Specialist will assist in analyzing claims data and provide recommended solutions to mitigate organization risks.

    Responsibilities

    ESSENTIAL DUTIES

    • Support all FirstKey Homes insurance programs, excluding medical insurance, with underwriting information and coverage placement, claims administration, loss forecasting and analysis to assist in loss reduction.
    • Allocate insurance premiums to affiliates and lines of business monthly.
    • Receive and review incident reports from the markets via direct via email or through an online portal.
    • Review first and third-party claims for irregularities, accuracy and completeness.
    • Review claims for eligibility, may include property, third party personal injury, workers compensation among others.
    • Create a filing system to track and maintain records such as insurance policies and claims. Generate reporting to update stakeholders regarding insurance matters.
    • Submit incident reports and pictures to insurance carrier in a timely manner.
    • Contact individuals about claims and coordinate the handling of benefits.
    • Correspond with customers, insurance carriers and service providers as necessary to resolve claims.
    • Assist in the administration of workers’ compensation and liability claims.
    • Create and maintain an insurance claims database. Analyze data and prepare reports for stakeholders as requested.
    • Create and track incident reports that involve damages under $25,000.
    • Update damaged property tracker for claims related to real property damage.
    • Analyze current risks and identify potential risks that affect the company. Recommend actions that will mitigate risks.
    • Assists in the implementation of health and safety measures across the organization.
    • Stay abreast of emerging insurance practices and trends. Evaluate and recommend practices that would enhance FirstKey Homes operations.
    • Complete special projects as assigned.

    WORKING CONDITIONS

    • Primarily working indoors, office environment.
    • May sit for several hours at a time.

    • Repetitive use of hands to operate computers, printers, and copiers.

    Qualifications

    REQUIRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Bachelor’s degree in Business, Finance or equivalent work experience and/or education
    • Intermediate proficiency with Microsoft Office (Word, Excel, PowerPoint, Outlook)
    • Minimum 2-years’ experience working in an insurance or similar work experience
    • Experience communicating and presenting information to business partners, insurance carriers, service providers and individuals effected by insurance claims

     

    PREFERRED EDUCATION AND EXPERIENCE

    • Knowledge of insurance and securities terminology
    • Experience working in property management, real estate or similar industry
    • Experience working in a fast pace, high-growth company

     

    REQUIRED KNOWLEDGE
